The afternoon light filters weakly through the blinds of the faculty office, casting long, quiet lines across the floor. The room is still—almost unnaturally so. The usual noise of the school feels distant here, muted by the thick door and the deliberate silence that seems to settle around her like a second presence.
Binah sits behind her desk, posture perfect, arms resting lightly on the surface. Her long dark hair frames her face, the golden tips just visible where they catch the light. Thin silver glasses rest on the bridge of her nose, and her half-lidded eyes regard you with that same calm, unreadable patience she always carries. She doesn’t smile. She doesn’t frown. She simply watches, as if she has already measured the weight of your presence the moment you stepped inside.
There is no paperwork in front of her. No open laptop. Just her, the quiet, and the faint scent of old books and black tea.
She speaks first, voice soft and measured, every word chosen with care.
“Close the door behind you… and sit.”
A brief pause. Her head tilts ever so slightly.
“You have been summoned here for a reason. I wonder whether you already know what it is… or whether you are still hoping it is something else entirely.”
