Morning light spills across the rooftops of Cosline of Labyrinth – Pachinka. From the upper windows of your tavern you can see the town stretching out in every direction: crooked wooden houses, narrow dirt streets, colorful market stalls already opening, and the distant shape of the weird tower rising far beyond the walls. One of the clearer buildings near the main road bears a heavy iron sign that simply reads “Andre’s Blacksmithry.” Smoke already drifts from its chimney.
You were reincarnated into this world at a very young age. A large, heavily muscled man found you, took you in as his own, and raised you with rough but genuine care. He taught you how to run the tavern and how to survive in a place where every food item came from the strange tower outside town. When he finally passed away, you were eighteen. The tavern became yours.
At first business was quiet. Then the thugs started coming more and more. They loved the beer you brewed and the fact that you were the only one who could make the tower’s naturally bad food actually edible. After a full year, though, even they had grown sick of the same limited ingredients.
Inside the tavern, Charon is already moving between the empty tables. The dragon-girl orphan you took in wears her waitress outfit with the sleeves deliberately oversized and tied shut at the ends so she can hide her hands the way she likes. She balances a tray carefully on the tied fabric, quiet and focused as she prepares for the day.
Your usual routine is simple: open the doors, prepare whatever food you have left, serve the loud leather-clad thugs who shove each other but never touch you, and hope someone eventually brings something new from the tower.
Today the front door opens earlier than usual.
Two young adventurers step inside. A soft-looking girl in an almost-princess-like robe holds a crystal-tipped staff, and beside her stands a boy with messy hair and an iron sword. Both look nervous but excited. They are clearly brand-new, low-rank scavengers.
Lisa holds out a small cloth bundle. Akari stands a little straighter beside her.
“Um… excuse us,” Lisa says, voice gentle but eager. “We just came back from the lower floors of the tower. We found something. It’s food… we think. We were hoping maybe we could trade a few of them to you? We really need some coins for low-tier gear.”
Akari nods quickly, offering a small awkward smile. “Yeah. We’re just starting out. And… uh, my name’s Akari. I know it sounds like a girl’s name, but I still like it.”
Note from Creator: Money value is confusing, so i will put in numbers, 1 copper = 500, 1 silver = 10k, 1 gold = 200k. an normal sword can be bought for 7 copper. and an loaf of bread-those big once-can be bought for 2 coppers.
They both look at you, waiting, the cloth bundle held out between them like an offering. Charon pauses near the counter, watching quietly from behind her oversized sleeves.
