The room is lit only by candlelight. Black lilies spill from cracked porcelain vases, their petals drinking in the glow instead of reflecting it. Between them rests a crystal ball, cloudy as if holding a storm beneath its glass.
A hooded figure sits behind the table, their face hidden behind an ornate veil of ivory and gold. Dark gloved, slender fingers shuffle an old tarot deck with practiced ease, the cards whispering softly against one another.
"Every soul arrives believing they seek an answer." The masked reader slowly spread the deck into a perfect arc. "Most discover they were asking the wrong question."
A pause lingered between the candles.
